Ymca program schedule st catharines

There are too many policies, not always enough staff to cover and seems rushed for cleaning time especially these days. There are not enough toys or budget for things for the children. Pros The Ymca offers a free health club membership and good benefits. Cons Lunches are only half hour, no other breaks, Management is good but HR is another story.

Yes, the pay is low. But the benefits are good, and there are a few for part-timers. As well, there is so much opportunity to gain skills and experience. If you step up to the plate as a net contributor, you can create opportunity. Advancement is a challenge; not an organization where you can expect promotions every three to five years.

Management can be very different department to department. Negotiate your pay and vacation when the job is offered to you. Pros Good place to gain experience. Cons Poor pay. Staff shortages. Horrible pay great company. Love the people and the management. Pay not great but it is non profit so that's to be expected. Great atmosphere and team spirit. Pros People.

Cons Money. Jobs at YMCA. After-School Program Staff. Day Camp Positions. After School Program Educator. Camp Glenburn Prep Cook. The work time is very flexible, it is definitely a good place if you like to be together with kids, and co-workers are all young and awesome, salary is not decent, and every day's the same.

Pros Work-life balance. Cons Low salary. While the YMCA was a multicultural center where anybody could broaden their horizons on the vast amount of people in our city there were many shortcomings with this position. A lot of the tech never such as security gates malfunctioned fairly often and the same with the membership card printers. Tech issues at the front desk made not only employees frustrated but also members.

The pay did not reflect the sheer amount of work that was needed to complete on top of just selling memberships to potential clientele. Communication between departments is key to a great information desk at the Y but unfortunately, it was hard to have any information given to front desk staff; leaving the lot with no clear understanding of what was going on in the building.

This led to a lot of problems between members and front desk staff. While it was nice to meet new people within the area and hear their stories the expectations that needed to be met for so little time and money were not worth it. Pros you got a free gym mebership. Cons part time only hours, poor pay for high expectations.

Management leaves you out to dry. They don't care about your mental health and just keep throwing jobs your way. The pay is horrible for everything that is expected. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No. While it's a wonderful place for kids to go and have something positive to do, the downside would be the adults.

Very negative, talk behind your back and toxic environment. Too bad, it's a terrific idea to improve any community, but hypocritical to the people who work the long hours for minimum wage. For everything that someone could learn there was always 'mean' girls and judgements that disqualified the good.

Pros Free use of gym. Cons pay, back stabbing, toxic. Management has cliques. Not much job security at all.

Very high expectations, not much time offered to complete the requirements of running a successful program. The quality of care is very high, and the children are learning in the best ways possible for their individual needs.

The curriculum, programing and training are top notch. The kids were the best part of it all. Walking in to my classroom every day to 15 little toddler faces smiling at me and running for hugs. They really teach you to focus on the relationship between Educator and child.

Pros Fulfilling career, emotionally. Cons Work-home life is very hard to balance. The childcare and school age programs are very busy. The YMCA has high expectations for program planning. Pros Various shift times. Cons Very demanding. Hard work. Little pay. The Good: You can make great connections with some coworkers, children, and families. The Bad: The company cares more about the paper work and less about the connections. Split shift. There is no paid planning time.

Management cares little about getting supplies for the preplanned activities that are a requirement that you plan the previous week. Prepare to spend lots of your own money on supplies. You do not get paid for mandatory trainings. Lack of supports for the children that really need it.

The children that receive an aide all day do not come with one after school hours. This really takes the enjoyment away from the other children in the program if the teacher has to put all attention on one child the entire program. Pros Free food, enjoyable coworkers.

Cons long hours, split shifts, low wage, no planning time, little to no support. Upper management gets ahead through their reliance on kind hearted professionals who truly desire to help their clients.

They will use and abuse and attempt to convince you that they are doing you a favour by providing employment. You will not be recognized for your efforts. Management will not show an interest in your personal well-being or growth. I can tell they there is lots of respect for both staff and children and parents.

However it depend what you are looking for! I love working with children and every day I learn from my company and my children what I can do to make them happy. I also have benefit at YMCA before it was very hard to have benefit but now they offer benefit to full time staff. Management does not address harassment unless it benefits them. There are policies in place for how they are to use it, but it seems like they promote those being cruel and ignore those who have been harassed.

There is little work-life balance. Split shifts are required and don't be surprised if you have to work 7 days a week to be able to get 35 hours. They also sometimes forget to pay you, which is a hassle trying to get back pay. The environment is toxic and gossip and slander occur a lot. Positive talk, compliments, or anything good is rarely given. They tend to undermine everyone around them. For a non-profit that wants to promote good, they tend to belittle their staff. There is almost next to no room for advancement.

If there is, they will openly promise promotions and roles to staff but never follow through. The most enjoyable part of the job is the good you do, but the toxic environment tends to outweigh that. It's a good short-term gig. Facility rentals At the Kiwanis Aquatics Centre, you can book one of our program rooms for an upcoming board meeting or event.
