The center pair of pins on the RJ cable is used to carry the ADSL signal pins 3 and 4 on a 6-pin cable, or pins 2 and 3 on a 4- pin cable. If you are sure you have the right pins on the wall jack and the ATM0 interface is still down and down, replace the RJ cable between the DSL port and your wall jack.
If you have verified that your DSL cable is good and that you have the correct pinouts, the next step is to make sure you have the correct power supply for the If everything up to this point in the Layer 1 troubleshooting procedure is correct, the next step is to make sure you have the correct DSL operating mode. These are the commands to configure operating-mode autodetection:. In order to do this, issue the command show interface atm0 and check the input and output packets.
If this is not the case, call your ISP. If the output bound counters are incrementing, you should be sending PPPoE negotiation packets.
If this is not the case, check the configuration on the router. If packets are incrementing in only the outbound direction, continue with the troubleshooting steps in this document. PPPoE is executed in two phases. The easiest way to determine if you have an active PPPoE session is to issue the show vpdn command.
In this example, no PPPoE sessions are active. If you are in this state, proceed to the next section. The other field of interest is the Vast , which indicates whether PPP has been successfully negotiated and authenticated.
If you do not have an active PPPoE session established, you need to issue the debug vpdn pppoe-events command to determine what PPPoE does not come up. Unlimited Data is GB? Interesting tactic Spectrum has when cancelling [ Charter Spectrum ] by techguy85 From there you will be taken to a "walled garden" site from where you setup your primary account name and password, and your network password which goes into the modem for PPPoE authentication along with your newly setup account name.
NetFixer has already explained how. Exactly the same as when I set up a friend a while back. KUppiano to maiki0. Crap-installation without user permission? I've had DSL service with Verizon for a couple of years. When I signed up I got the modem-router for free. A CD came with the package, but I did not use it, not wanting to install advertising, etc. It worked fine as is, just by connecting the modem to the LAN port on my computer. Now my mom signed up for DSL with Verizon.
It came with that crappy modem, no router. What on earth is the purpose of the USB connection on that modem? Why would one possibly use that? No CD came with the package. It did not work, and I wondered if I had something configured wrong.
As of yesterday, it did not work. As of today, it finally worked, without any changes in settings from yesterday. So, I think it was actually activated starting today, more than a week later than the date they gave. However, in "working" today, I could not access any web site. It just brought me to a Verizon app about "activating my DSL". It asked me to allow their ActiveX control to run, then it started running a long installation process on my computer, after downloading and installing who knows WTF on my computer, and giving me no choice in the matter.
Finally, when it came to a screen where I had to agree to their terms, being pissed off, I exited the app, and system-restored my system back to before their "activation" BS. What kind of nonsense is that? One does not need any special software to "activate DSL". Windows contains all necessary software to run DSL. But now they seem to be trying to force everyone to install some kind of crap Spyware? What's up with that? For those who went through with this, what did it do to your system?
Thinking of cancelling out of Verizon contract, returning the crap-modem, and getting DSLExtreme instead. If we cancel now, before signing online their "agreement", one can get out of the year-contract without penalty, correct?
If one does sign that agreement, does one have 30 days to cancel without penalty, as in a cell phone contract? Curious to hear other's experience and opinions on this. Its a setup whenever your modem is plugged in for the first time or you reset the modem back to factory default settings.
Its mainly a one-time setup unless you have to reset the modem back to default. It have no spyware or anything that will cripple your computer. When everything is finished, just delete the desktop icons and thats it.
I really want to try the Westell and to see how much better each of them is. RandomZero3 join The USB connections are for people who don't have ethernet connections. Yes, those people still exist. Jodokast96 Stupid people piss me off. Premium Member join NJ. If you don't, oh well. Nothing happens. Its just a one time thing with Verizon that you will see that screen unless you do a hard restart push the button on the modem beside the Power.
