My advice to XP users is to hold off for a while. In fact, DirectX 10 for gaming may be the only really important reason for gamers to upgrade. Previous comment: "Nobody should be using bit Vista unless you are coding for it. There is even less bit support by other software and drivers for Vista than there is in XP. I would not install bit Vista until at least likely but simply writing down your apps and drivers and checking how the support is every two months starting is a good way to go.

Luckily, bit and bit Vista is sold together maybe even on the same disc , so the painful decision of which version to get is gone. I don't think you can upgrade directly from Vista x86 to Vista x64 but it would be nice.
